This house in the June issue of Elle Décor has been on my mind. The painted blue moldings… How daring! How fresh! How totally do-able!
Richard Mishaan gave this 1870’s farmhouse, in northern Westchester, a contemporary update. The vibe of the house is modern farm house with some tricked out rooms like the media room and this bar. Wow.
Still, the room that I love is the main family room with those blue/grey painted moldings. When I look at a magazine, I want to see details like these that can be easily copied. The ceilings in this room aren’t very high and you would think the blue moldings would only accentuate this, but I think it does the opposite. I also love the rich, dark floors with white walls and dark beams. It’s a comfortable space with a surprising pop of blue.
I see a trip to the paint store in my future. How about you?
