Now that my kids are over 2, it no longer takes me the better part of an hour to pack up the diaper bag just to run to the drugstore. Most days, I leave the diaper bag at home, simply throwing a few diapers, sippy cups and snack traps in a bag. Enter the tote bag: aka the transitional diaper bag.
I received this C. Wonder “Easy Tote” as a gift from my sister last year, and it has served me well as a transitional diaper bag. It’s nylon so it’s durable, has interior pockets (one with a zipper), and looks really cute monogrammed. It’s a great deal at a $78 base price. Following are a few other totes that would serve this purpose equally well…
Iomoi is a preppy lifestyle brand known for their monogrammed bags, desk and home accessories. The elephant on the bag above is one of their signature motifs, and there are leather totes in addition to canvas and canvas/leather combinations. The Iomoi large tote starts at $168.
The Longchamp Le Pliage L shopper tote is a classic option available in dozens of solid colors and prints. With it’s cult following, the Le Pliage tote has a single zip close and can be easily folded up and stowed away. It’s timeless and starts at $145.
I love, love, love the Carlos Falchi totes – the medium size is just right and it has a magnetic closure, two slip pockets, one zip pocket and a removable change purse. Despite the thin straps, the microfiber bag can withstand a heavy load and the snake skin embossed print goes with everything. A great transition bag for fall, it will last for many seasons. $220.
The Boulevard Sunday Tote evokes a bohemian chic style with function. The washed canvas base is matched with crisp leather in a variety of colors, and gold hardware. With a zip-top closure, it features an exterior pocket with magnetic closure and a zippered interior pocket. On the bigger side, it’s a bit more casual, so perhaps a great weekend bag. And guess what? You can get it monogrammed. $148.
