The Best Back to School Dresses

Stock her closet with bright colored dresses from classic to boho.

School starts in almost two weeks and my girls can’t wait to see their friends, meet their new teachers and (unbeknownst to them) get back some structure to their days. They’re also super excited about getting dressed up for school. Being the mom of two uber girly girls, I’ve learned that I might as well stock their closets with dresses because anything else just won’t get worn. Here are my favorite back to school dresses, one for every day of the first week of school plus Saturday! Yes, my girls wear dresses on the weekend, too.

Top row:
From one of Zutano’s new print families, the Penny Lane Pleat Dress ($32) features a few of my three-year-old’s favorite things: ladybugs, flowers, owls, birds and hearts. Another favorite from Zutano, the Bunny Screen Print Jumper ($30) can be worn as is or layered with a short or long sleeve top. I love the swingy shape and soft terry material. Especially cute with Zutano’s striped tights ($10). You can shop on Zutano’s website or visit their shop at FAO Schwarz, 767 5th Avenue, New York.

My girls love how comfy and pretty they feel in Hanna Andersson’s colorful play dresses. The Me Myself and I Dress ($30 until Sept 23) is available in four happy prints. Don’t forget Hanna’s perfectly coordinating leggings ($20). Hanna Andersson: Westchtester Mall, 125 Westchester Ave, White Plains.

Bottom row:
This mischievous racoon looks so adorable on a knit dress, but stay away from my garbage cans, dude! The racoon dress ($19.95) from H&M Kids is made from 100% cotton with two front pockets for keeping treasures handy. H&M: White Plains Galleria, 100 Main Street, White Plains.

The Mini Boden Print Tunic ($32) a-line dress from Mini Boden is definitely class pictures worthy. (And my favorite!) Purchase Mini Boden on their website or at Nordstrom in the Westchester Mall, 125 Westchester Avenue, White Plains.

I can’t resist the Pocket Jumper from Crewcuts ($55) with it’s mod, classic shape in either kelly green or navy. Add a long sleeve top and tights and your little girl can wear it all year long. Crewcuts: Westchester Mall, 125 Westchester Avenue, White Plains.
