Date Night: Cooking Classes at Sur La Table

Finally! Something different to do on date night.

We’ve been a little obsessed with Ridge Hill lately. The first time I was there I felt like I was on vacation. Shopping in the open air is so relaxing! And so much has opened since I last visited. My husband was excited to see a Sur La Table, and I was intrigued by all of the cooking classes they offer because they seem like a great excuse to spend time together. Some of the cooking classes are even called “Date Night.”

Cooking class as date night — what a brilliant idea. My husband loves to cook and I need to learn how to cook. Each class lasts approximately two hours and each person gets a generous taste of each dish. Each person also receives a 10 percent off coupon to use the week after the class. Please make your reservation on their website.

There’s more good news: A second Sur La Table location is opening at The Westchester in White Plains in coming weeks. It’s right next to the former Restoration Hardware space.

Below are the classes that I think look the most delicious. (Class prices are per person.)

Fantastic Fall Meals, $69
September 26, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Menu: Pork Loin Chops with Apple Cider-Mustard Sauce, Oven-Dried Tomato, Avocado and Farro Salad, Roasted Cod with Creamed Leeks and Bacon, Apple Walnut Galette.

A Tour of Italy, $85
September 27, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Menu: Parmigiano Reggiano and Pear Salad (Emilia-Romagna), Creamy Potato and Pumpkin Soup with Cannellini Beans (Lombardia), Tuscan-Style Roast Pork Loin with Sage (Toscana), Chocolate Covered Figs (Calabria),
Bonus: Each student will receive a copy of the book “Secrets from Coastal Italian Kitchens.”

Jacques Pepen’s Essentils of French Cooking I, $85
September 29, 12-2pm
Menu: Tomato, Basil, and Cheese Soufflé, Chicken with Cognac Sauce, Glazed Carrots with Olives, Chocolate Mousse
