We've got laughs, crafts and puppets. What else do you need?

January 10, 2013

Every Thursday, we round-up our favorite events of the weekend to make getting out the door even easier, but check out our full calendar for the whole week and much more!

Described by The New York Times as “they can get laughs by breathing”, Parallel Exit‘s slapstick style comedy is something you don’t want to miss. This weekend, their current show, Exit Stage Left, is at the Emelin Theatre. Expect laughs, tap dancing and live music for ages 4+. Buy tickets on Emelin Theatre‘s website. Shows are Saturday, January 12, at 11am and 1:30pm. Tickets are $13 for adults and kids. Emelin Theatre: 153 Library Lane, Mamaroneck; 914-698-0098

Learn about hibernating animals at Wave Hill this Saturday and Sunday at Hibernator’s Den Family Art Project from 10am- 1pm. Wear your pj’s and don’t forget your teddy bear as you join in the fun with musician Jon Samson as he sings about animals in winter and sleepy time. Hear tales of the season and make your own hibernating animal mask. Which one will your little one choose? A furry bear, bat, toad or hedgehog? Free event and free admission to the grounds all weekend. Wave Hill: 675 West 252nd Street (Ecology Building), Bronx; 718-549-3200

Puppeteer Jill Liflander is back at the Greenburgh Nature Center for a Wintertime Puppet Show with Jilly and her silly, fluffy puppets on Sunday, January 13. The 11am show is recommended for kids 4 and under and the 1PM show is best for for ages 4-7. Space is limited and shows usually sell out. Register here. Members $7, Non-Members $10. Greenburgh Nature Center: 99 Dromore Road, Scarsdale; 914-723-3470

Come to Muscoot Farm for Paper Crafts and Cards on Sunday, January 13 from 1pm – 3pm. There will be cutting, folding, rolling and stories. Make a snowflake or a hat or whatever else you can dream up with paper! Then, walk around the farm and see the animals. (I’m a big fan of the goats, but don’t show them your paper hat. They”ll want to eat it!) Event and admission are free. Muscoot Farm: 51 Route 100, Somers
