Tailored shorts are all the rage this spring. Ranging in fabrics from leather to embellished silk to lace, shorts have been revolutionized and are now totally appropriate for date nights out. The key to getting it right is the length — not too short but not too long — to show off the right amount of leg. Add to that the golden rule of balance. When wearing this season’s mid-thigh shorts, don’t go skimpy on top too. Paired with a tank and blazer, linen sweater or my go-to, a denim shirt, shorts can be a chic, sophisticated look with flats or wedges.

Can anyone remember when they bought their first training bra? For me, it was a rainy Memorial Day when I was 12. My cousin took me to Bloomingdale’s and I can recall being on top of the world when we left the store, a white cotton snap-front in hand. As grown women, especially after having children, our relationship with our boobs may be a little more complicated. And let’s face it, buying a bra as an adult is way more challenging than it was in our Sweet Valley High/Babysitter’s Club adolesence.

It’s the time of year when I start to notice all the wonderful spring lines displayed in store fronts and perky, warm looks in the glossy fashion ads. (It’s also when I start to loathe my winter wardrobe and all that includes.) The Gap is pushing their new line of “Skimmers” and I’m completely sold by this adorable image.

Now that my kids are over 2, it no longer takes me the better part of an hour to pack up the diaper bag just to run to the drugstore. Most days, I leave the diaper bag at home, simply throwing a few diapers, sippy cups and snack traps in a bag. Enter the tote bag: aka the transitional diaper bag.
I received this C. Wonder “Easy Tote” as a gift from my sister last year, and it has served me well as a transitional diaper bag. It’s nylon so it’s durable, has interior pockets (one with a zipper), and looks really cute monogrammed. It’s a great deal at a $78 base price. Charlie’s Shoe Repair in Rye is one of those “secret” shops in Westchester. The hole-in-the-wall storefront looks like a throw-back to the villages of yester year, but the service and craftsmanship is top-notch, making it an insider favorite among locals.
