Check out a few of my favorites...
August 1, 2012
Now that my kids are over 2, it no longer takes me the better part of an hour to pack up the diaper bag just to run to the drugstore. Most days, I leave the diaper bag at home, simply throwing a few diapers, sippy cups and snack traps in a bag. Enter the tote bag: aka the transitional diaper bag.

I received this C. Wonder “Easy Tote” as a gift from my sister last year, and it has served me well as a transitional diaper bag. It’s nylon so it’s durable, has interior pockets (one with a zipper), and looks really cute monogrammed. It’s a great deal at a $78 base price. Following are a few other totes that would serve this purpose equally well… [...]

The old-fashioned cobbler is a favorite among the shoe-obsessed.

Charlie’s Shoe Repair in Rye is one of those “secret” shops in Westchester. The hole-in-the-wall storefront looks like a throw-back to the villages of yester year, but the service and craftsmanship is top-notch, making it an insider favorite among locals.

I was made privvy to Charlie’s Shoe Repair by my friend, Brooke, who was born and bred in Westchester, and currently lives in Rye. She described Charlie as a gentle soul who is a one-man act and takes great pride in his work. [...]

A Westchester mom shares her recipe for a refreshing post-bedtime treat.
June 20, 2012
When the weather gets steamy, I love sipping a cold, citrusy cocktail on the porch at dusk. My friend Lauren, who is a lovely hostess, served me this drink at a recent neighborhood BBQ. I raved over it so much that she and her husband nearly bottled me some in a sip cup to take on my bike ride home.

Make this the signature cocktail at your next BBQ or mix it up tonight after the kids go to bed. It only takes a few minutes. “I originally made it without vodka, and it’s yummy and fresh virgin as well,” Lauren says. You’ll never believe what the star ingredient is: Trader Joe’s kiddie lemonade juice box. Really! Get the recipe after the jump…

A Larchmont mom designs a line of playful (and just enough sexy) pajamas.
June 6, 2012
Whether you sleep in fresh lingerie between crisp ironed sheets or you’re on night four of your husband’s college t-shirt in a bed that never got made, you will adore three J pajamas.

After 10+ years in the fashion industry, Larchmont mom Ali McLeod followed her dream and created three J pajamas, a playful, yet sophisticated, sleepwear line that she designs out of her home. Not only are they incredibly comfortable and fun (signature prints include birds, bicycles and apples), but they are flattering (promise!) and subtley sexy.

Palm Springs glamour comes to Westchester.

Get your frozen drinks with little umbrellas ready because Banana Republic’s Trina Turk Collection hits stores on June 7. The collection will include 60 pieces with swimwear, beach towels, dresses and jewelry. Trina collaborated with Banana Republic and chose five of her iconic prints to feature in the collection.
I’m looking forward to infusing my wardrobe with a little Palm Springs retro glam. Just like this lady, here. This could be me. Or you.

Strike a warrior pose while staring at the Hudson River.
May 23, 2012
I was in downward dog, my biceps burning, when the yoga teacher instructed us to hop (or step) our right foot forward and swing our arms up to warrior one. As soon as I stood up, I saw the Hudson River out of nearly every window in the studio. My mind relaxed as my eyes traveled to the lush green cliffs on the other side of the water. The light was bright and invigorating, the water calming. Inspired, I deepened my lunge. This is the way yoga is meant to be practiced, I thought.

I spotted YogaWorks on a drive through Irvington. It was perched up on a hill in a pretty stone building, but the reason I stopped is because I could see that the studio had killer views. While I’m hardly a seasoned yogi, I’ve been practicing for years and I’m a sucker for pretty yoga studios. I’ve done yoga on the beach at the Four Seasons Maui, at a rustic resort in Vieques, on a hotel lawn overlooking the ocean on Block Island. I even pushed through prenatal poses for nine months at sexy-chic Pure Yoga on the UWS.
But nothing beats the Yoga Blend class I took with Jennifer Monness at YogaWorks in Irvington last week. [...]

A little rugged, a lot stylish.
May 21, 2012
Before kids, I wore a gold Michele watch almost every day. I got it as a birthday gift from my parents, and I loved it. Shortly after my twins were born, it became evident that I needed a more mom-friendly watch to wear everyday — one that wouldn’t get ruined during bath time, messy meals or while playing with the water table. After some not-so-subtle hints were dropped, my husband got me J. Crew’s Timex Military Watch.
It’s cute, practical and versatile. Along with the basic watch, he gave me 5 watch bands in fun colors and patterns that I switch up all the time, depending on my outfit and mood! [...]

Love Quotes scarves are the must-have accessory of the season.
May 15, 2012
While shopping in Bronxville last week, I popped into the Yum Yum Tree (an awesome boutique on Pondfield Road) and was crushing on their awesome selection of Love Quotes scarves. Scarves continue to be a must-have accessory for spring and summer, and this year’s Love Quotes’ selection is light, airy and gorgeous. Check out these colors!

With a huge celebrity following, Love Quotes scarves are extremely versatile — Wear it around your neck as a scarf, drape over your shoulders as a beautiful shawl, or even tie around your waist as a fun beach sarong. I even like them tied to a tote or beach bag.

This season’s vibrant colors add a pop to any neutral outfit. Dress up a LBD (little black dress!) [...]

I had so much fun searching for the most fabulous Mother’s Day gifts. I went from town to town, like a sleuth, with my camera, my toddler or my older daughter. We were given cookies, lemonade and lots of ideas for Mother’s Day gifts. There are so many goodies to be found and they’re all local, so no need to order online or shop ahead of time. Just read this post, grab your wallet and get your wife something that will make her smile. (And you don’t need to spend a lot!)
Step into C. Wonder at The Westchester Mall, and you’ll enter a world that is as bright as a box of Crayolas. How can you resist bringing home a little of their happy, preppy style? C. Wonder has offered Wee Westchester readers a 15% discount on full priced items between now and May 22. At The Westchester Mall mention “Wee Westchester” at the register and on-line use code: Wee15.
You can find a lot of monogrammed items at C. Wonder, which makes it an ideal choice for gifts. I love the above Monogrammed Decorative plates ($38 each). I would keep one on my dresser for jewelry and one by the door for keys. [...]
