The New York Botanical Garden’s Holiday Train Show

This New York tradition gets better every year!

November 16, 2012

The NY Botanical Garden’s Holiday Train Show is unlike any other train show in the world. Located in the Botanical Garden’s Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, a Victorian glasshouse, the show is set amongst lush tropical plants and flowers. Steam engines and street cars from the late 1800’s, modern freight and high speed passenger trains and trolleys, and Thomas the Tank Engine run over a quarter-mile of train tracks. Kids and adults are mesmerized by trains zipping across bridges, through tunnels, past waterfalls and creeks. Don’t be surprised if you see a butterfly or ladybug trying to hop a train in this tropical wonderland. [...]

The Haunted Pumpkin Garden at NY Botanical Garden

Halloween inspired fun that's just right for the youngest tots.

October 7, 2012

The Haunted Pumpkin Garden at the New York Botanical Garden is just haunted enough to be fun for the preschool set. We loved the playhouse covered in pumpkins, a pumpkin puppet theater complete with puppets for kids to create their own puppet shows and we never get tired of making the water in the fountain squirt by jumping on the ground.
