For such a cold winter weekend, there’s actually quite a bit going on in Westchester this weekend. Check our calendar for more local listings. But here’s what we’re most excited about.

Is that a kimono dragon? Your budding scientists will love checking out the lizards, snakes and iguanas at this weekend’s Reptile Expo at the Westchester County Center. There are over 250 vendors, and many of them will bring live animals for viewing (and even buying). What better place to do a little window shopping with a toddler? The expo is from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, February 24 and costs $10 per person; kids under 7 are free. Buy tickets at the door. Corner of Central Park Avenue (Rt. 100) and Tarrytown Road, White Plains.
The Emelin Theater has been hosting a slew of wonderful children’s programs lately. If you missed last weekend’s Angelina Ballerina, bring the wee ones on Saturday, February 23 for Blackbeard the Pirate show. The story: “What starts as a lazy day at the beach quickly turns into mystery and adventure when the search for Blackbeard’s gold begins! Tales from past and present lead us on a search of untold riches. Just where have Blackbeard and his crew hidden their legendary treasure?” Showtimes at 11am and 1:30pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance online or by phone. 153 Library Lane, Mamaroneck; 914-698-0098
Did you read the New York Times article about how Hastings-on-Hudson is becoming “Hipsturbia?” Well, go check out the goods (and the hipsters) for yourself at this weekend’s Hastings Indoor Farmers Market. Held on Saturday, February 23 from 9am to 1pm at the James Harmon Community Center, the stalls feature a variety of root veggies, homemade soaps, pastas and more. 44 Main Street, Hastings
Moms, this one is for you: If you need a break and consider yourself a bit crafty, consider this cool Candle Making workshop at Muscoot Farm. On Saturday, February 23 from 10am to 12pm, Mia Camacho-Fitzgerald from Clean Ridge Soap Company will teach you how to make candles and/or soap. Pre-registration required for each workshop. Candle Making fee is $20: Soap Making is $45. If you sign up for both workshops the fee is $60. 51 Route 100, Somers; 914-864-7286
Do your kids love Clifford the Big Red Dog? Surprise them with tickets to Tarrytown Music Hall’s Clifford musical on Sunday, February 24 at 1pm. Clifford and friends will be live on stage celebrating his big ideas — share, play fair, have respect, work together, be responsible. Lots of dancing and singing. Tickets are $35 per person. 13 Main Street, Tarrytown; 877-840-0457
